The 2008 Speare Chardonnay greets you with aromas of apples and pears, a classic display of the Russian River appellation. The Santa Barbara Chardonnay adds tropical fruit flavors of pineapple and apricot to the blend. The wine went through malolactic fermentation to add a creaminess and richness creating a medium body with rich fruit upon entry. The wine has a hint of oak, and the bright acidity is well balanced leaving the palate fresh and clean. This wine is meant to be enjoyed with food or on its own.

The 2007 Speare Merlot is full bodied and radiates rich plum and dark berry flavors, captured from the essence of Alexander Valley in Sonoma. There is a small percentage of Merlot from the Russian River blended in that adds some high tone floral (lilac and violet) notes that softens the tannins of the Alexander Merlot, punctuated with underlining hits of savory herbs. This wine is bright and refreshing on the palate and is enjoyable now and will continue to soften and improve with time in the glass and bottle.
